Al\u00e9m disso, era o mais velho dos irm\u00e3os e devido \u00e0s prec\u00e1rias situa\u00e7\u00f5es financeiras de seus pais, foi enviado para viver com seu av\u00f4, embora cinco anos depois, acabou voltando para casa novamente devido ao falecimento de sua genitora. Entretanto, ap\u00f3s seu pai se casar novamente, Joseph passa a morar com seus tios, que possu\u00edam uma excelente condi\u00e7\u00e3o financeira.<\/p><p>Devido a isso, lhe foi oferecida uma \u00f3tima educa\u00e7\u00e3o. Dessa maneira, j\u00e1 aos seus quatro anos de idade ele j\u00e1 conseguia recitar todas as 107 perguntas e respostas do Breve Catecismo de Westminster, um catecismo resumido formulado pelos te\u00f3logos ingleses e escoceses da Assembleia de Westminster. Por\u00e9m, em 1749, em seus 16 anos, acabou contraindo uma doen\u00e7a desconhecida que amea\u00e7ava o colocar em leito de morte, por\u00e9m, por ser Calvinista, acreditou que, caso se convertesse, se curaria e sairia vivo, uma vez que seria o \u201cescolhido de deus\u201d. Mesmo assim, depois de um longo tempo lidando com a doen\u00e7a e com sua f\u00e9 abalada, desacreditou da religi\u00e3o e come\u00e7ou a aceitar o Universalismo, al\u00e9m de, depois de meses, ter melhorado e continuado sua vida. Dentro desse ambiente, se interessou bastante pelo t\u00f3pico de eletricidade e escreveu um livro, de 700 p\u00e1ginas, que abordasse sobre as teorias da eletricidade, at\u00e9 o ano de 1766. Vale ressaltar que esse material foi usado como base de estudo para grandes mentes da el\u00e9trica, como Maxwell, Coulomb, Faraday e Volta.<\/p><p>Em 1773, se mudou para Calne. Foi l\u00e1 onde ele teve contato com a qu\u00edmica de fato, e \u00e9 onde ele teve as ideias que levariam \u00e0 famosa \u201crevolu\u00e7\u00e3o da qu\u00edmica\u201d, que ocorreu no s\u00e9culo XVIII. Ele caracterizou esse tal \u201car\u201d como melhor e mais leve para a respira\u00e7\u00e3o.\u00a0<\/p><p><b>Quem \u00e9 esse Lavoisier?\u00a0<\/b><\/p><p>Lavoisier nasceu em 1743 e veio de uma fam\u00edlia nobre francesa, ber\u00e7o de ouro total. Em 1754, quando 11 anos, foi estudar em Paris, onde ficou at\u00e9 se\u00a0formar em direito, na faculdade de Direito de Paris em 1764, mas apesar de ser \u201cDoutor\u201d o que ele realmente queria era estudar Ci\u00eancia como o pai j\u00e1 fazia.\u00a0<\/p><p>Em 1771, inventou de se casar com a aristocrata francesa, Marie-Anne Pierrette Paulze, ou Marie Lavoisier rsrs, que foi uma importante colaboradora para o seu trabalho. Ela ficou sendo respons\u00e1vel por traduzir muitos livros, que estavam em ingl\u00eas e latim, para o franc\u00eas, agilizando o trabalho de Lavoisier. Al\u00e9m disso, ajudou a ilustrar as mais importantes experi\u00eancias feitas por seu marido.\u00a0<\/p><p>Como Lavoisier tinha uma condi\u00e7\u00e3o financeira melhor que Priestley, desde cedo teve acesso aos melhores laborat\u00f3rios e aos melhores equipamentos, o que lhe permitiu conduzir seus estudos sobre combust\u00e3o de uma maneira quantitativa (A Ci\u00eancia \u00e9 cara). Ap\u00f3s v\u00e1rios experimentos realizando muitas medi\u00e7\u00f5es na balan\u00e7a, p\u00f4de concluir que quando um metal \u201cardia\u201d, esse metal ganhava massa ao inv\u00e9s de perder!\u00a0<\/p><p>Apesar dessa observa\u00e7\u00e3o ser contr\u00e1ria a teoria do flogisto, que Priestley defendia, Lavoisier n\u00e3o sabia explicar ainda o porqu\u00ea disso. Ent\u00e3o, em 1776, ele admitiu por correspond\u00eancia, que possu\u00eda mais confian\u00e7a nas ideias de Priestley do que em suas pr\u00f3prias observa\u00e7\u00f5es. (Interessante, n\u00e3o \u00e9?)<\/p><p><b>E como eles se conheceram?\u00a0<\/b><\/p><p>Em 1779 rolou um evento na Fran\u00e7a onde muitos cientistas da \u00e9poca se reuniram, da\u00ed em uma\u00a0roda de conversa em que Lavoisier tamb\u00e9m estava, Priestley comentou que havia \u201cencontrado um novo ar\u201d. Ar esse que permite as coisas \u201carderem\u201d, ou queimarem.\u00a0<\/p><p><b>Mas e da\u00ed?\u00a0<\/b><\/p><p>Apesar de\u00a0Lavoisier ter ficado um pouco inseguro sobre as suas descobertas no passado,\u00a0aquele encontro o fez repensar as coisas. Como ele era casado com uma aristocrata, durante a Revolu\u00e7\u00e3o Francesa, ou melhor, em 1793, ele foi decapitado por ter liga\u00e7\u00f5es com a coroa francesa.
