Watson, bi\u00f3logo molecular e geneticista, e Francis Crick, tamb\u00e9m bi\u00f3logo molecular e biof\u00edsico. Entretanto, a descoberta deste ordenamento molecular refere-se principalmente a uma cientista chamada Rosalind Franklin, qu\u00edmica brit\u00e2nica que fundou o entendimento de diversas estruturas moleculares, indo desde o DNA at\u00e9 a disposi\u00e7\u00e3o das mol\u00e9culas do grafite e do carv\u00e3o mineral.<\/p><p>Rosalind Elsie Franklin nasceu em 1920 em Londres, Reino Unido, sendo a segunda filha de uma fam\u00edlia judaica bastante influente na cidade, al\u00e9m de participar de forma ativa no Movimento Sufragista. Assim, come\u00e7ou a estudar para a ci\u00eancia em 1938 e foi em 1941, com 21 anos, que ela se formou em Ci\u00eancias da Natureza pelo Newham College, uma faculdade restrita para mulheres na Universidade de Cambridge, al\u00e9m de conquistar seu Ph.D atrav\u00e9s de uma ampla pesquisa acerca das microestruturas de carbono e grafite, em 1945. Tamb\u00e9m trabalhou com a Cristalografia, uma ci\u00eancia que estuda a estrutura dos cristais, e Raios-X, em Paris, por algum tempo. Watson, Francis Crick e tamb\u00e9m o biof\u00edsico Maurice Wilkins se envolvem na hist\u00f3ria sobre a descoberta da estrutura do DNA. Foi atrav\u00e9s de um dos alunos de Rosalind que a preciosa foto chega at\u00e9 Watson e Crick, uma vez que este estudante havia pegado a imagem e a mostrado para o chefe do laborat\u00f3rio, Wilkins, colega de trabalho dos outros dois cientistas. Al\u00e9m disso, em nenhum momento criticou, de forma oficial, a atitude dos colegas. Enquanto isso, em 1962, Francis Crick, James Watson e Maurice Wilkins, ganhavam o pr\u00eamio Nobel de Fisiologia ou Medicina por suas descobertas sobre a estrutura molecular dos \u00e1cidos nucl\u00e9icos e seu significado para a transfer\u00eancia de informa\u00e7\u00f5es em materiais vivos, n\u00e3o existindo quaisquer tipos de cita\u00e7\u00f5es \u00e0 cientista Rosalind Franklin, pelo menos, na \u00e9poca. Inclusive, s\u00f3 se tornou de conhecimento p\u00fablico sua contribui\u00e7\u00e3o ap\u00f3s Watson a citar, em 1968, em sua autobiografia \u201cA dupla h\u00e9lice: Como descobri a estrutura do DNA\u201d.
